Picknik is intended to be a place where people from the business center can take a break from their offices. Although they cannot have a real picnic during a short lunch break, they can “pick” a healthy meal, drink, or pastry here and change their surroundings for a while. The construction and operational phase of the renovation involved merging two units – the original restaurant and a newsstand located in the middle of the tract. By combining them, we achieved a cohesive dining area with adjoining facilities and restrooms for visitors in the back. In such a large space, it was exceptionally important to place various types of seating that would logically divide it and create a specific atmosphere in each zone, whether for a quick lunch or a longer stay. Visually, the interior is designed to evoke the atmosphere of a garden or sitting in a park. Under the industrial, blue-painted ceiling, rattan-style pendant lamps hang above the tables like baskets. We translated the checkered tablecloth pattern onto the walls in the form of 3D tiling. Down to the detail of a wine cork, which inspired the material for the creative cork surfaces above the bar, everything is aimed at creating a picnic mood. We elevated the lunch canteen concept through the original idea hidden in the name, turning it into a place where people enjoy returning for a (not just) lunch Picknick.
